| The Eight Healers: Eight Habits for a Healthy LifeAre you ready for positive change? Making small, sustained changes
usually results in the greatest success. To introduce the following
eight foundations for health into your life, begin with the one you can
adopt most easily. As you succeed, move into more challenging areas.
Work slowly. Honor your efforts. The rewards of your dedication will
serve you for a lifetime. 1) Eat a Natural Whole Foods DietEat
a diet high in vegetables, whole grains, beans, fruits, fresh nuts, and
seeds. If desired include eggs, cultured milk products, fish and other
low-fat animal sources. Eat a diet low in fats, sweets, animal
products, refined or "manufactured foods" and foods with additives of
any kind. Digestion improves when ther is calm and gratitude present.
Eating moderatley and chewing your food thoroughly helps achieve
natural regularity. 2) Get Vigorous Exercise DailyTry to
find at least 20-30 minutes a day for any activity that raises your
heart and respiration rate and increases circulation. Try varying the
kings of activities you engage in for added interest and enjoyment. If
it's fun, you're likely to continue exercising daily for years to come. 3) Get Sufficient RestEarly
to bed and early to rise is a well-founded proverb. It's beneficial to
rest whenever there is genuine tiredness. In addition, taking frequent
breaks during you work (or play) day reduces fatigue. Moderation and
tranquility help sustain relaxation of mind and body.4) Cultivate a Heart Filled With Joy & LoveEngage
in activities that develop a calm mind and a compassionate heart.
Surrender the past and the future. Just be here now. Sharing your love
is profoundly healing on all levels. Laugh frequently and heartily.
Good belly laughs every day can directly boost your overall health.5) Drink Fresh, Clean WaterDrink
six to eight glasses of spring or filtered water throughout the day
between meal. (too much water, particularly cold water-taken with meals
can interfere with digestion). Water keeps your cells hydrated and
enables the body to flush out many internal impurities. 6) Breathe Clean, Fresh Air Whenever PossibleKeep
your windows open whenever possible, and air your rooms out
daily-especially in winter. If you work indoors, try stepping outside a
few times a day for a breath of fresh air. Deep, easy breathing with
awareness renews body, mind and spirit. 7) Put Sunlight In Your DayExposure
to moderate amounts of natural sunlight every day is of great benefit
to most individuals. In summer, choose morning and late afternoon sune
to minimize UV ray exposure. Beneficial light wavelenghts passing
though the optic nerve help regulate hormone production so, if
possible. briefly remove your glasses when in the sun.8) Connect To A Higher A Spiritual SourceFinding
a source of higher wisdom and compassion provides a point of reference in
times of difficulty and can enhance your sense of inner peace. Prayer
and meditation are powerful tools that may help you cultivate this
connection. | |
